Timers

Delays, pulses and drift-resistant timing

Timers are how a PLC waits. Start with on-delay and off-delay, combine timing with one-shots, then build retained and drift-resistant time patterns.

  1. 0

// Drives the output high once the input has stayed high continuously for 1 second.

    On Delay

    EXERCISE
    Difficultyeasy
    Status—unknown
  2. 1

// Keeps the output high for 2 seconds after the input goes low (Off-Delay).

    Off Delay

    EXERCISE
    Difficultyeasy
    Status—unknown
  3. 2

// Turns Out_Done on after In_Enable has been on for 5 seconds in total. Pauses retain the elapsed time.

    Cumulative Timer

    EXERCISE
    Difficultyeasy
    Status—unknown
  4. 3

// Produces a 1-second output pulse on each rising edge of the trigger input.

    Pulse

    EXERCISE
    Difficultymedium
    Status—unknown
  5. 4

// Fires a single-scan pulse when the input is released after being held continuously for at least 2 seconds.

    Long Press

    EXERCISE
    Difficultymedium
    Status—unknown
  6. 5

// Flashes an output at 1 Hz (1s ON, 1s OFF) while enabled.

    Flasher

    EXERCISE
    Difficultymedium
    Status—unknown
  7. 6

// Totals a machine's run time as hours, minutes, and seconds, retaining the total through stops, with a manual reset.

    Run Hours

    EXERCISE
    Difficultymedium
    Status—unknown
  8. 7

// Holds the run output high for a cooldown period after a stop command is received.

    Delayed Shutdown

    EXERCISE
    Difficultymedium
    Status—unknown
  9. 8

// Keeps one-second ON and OFF phases aligned without accumulating scan-cycle delays.

    Drift-Resistant Flasher

    EXERCISE
    Difficultyhard
    Status—unknown
  10. End
